STATEMENT: The series of prints entitled "The Sweet Science
of Bruising" examines the role of the boxer in a different
light. No longer is the duo in a solely adversarial relationship,
but through the inclusion of motel signs, double entendres and subtle
positioning we begin to sense an energy between the fighters that
is not wholly pugilistic. Swirling colors, polka dots and catchy
phrases bring a heightened flavor to the heavy muscle-laden bodies
of the fighters.
